In which we encounter a big yellow slug... 02/21/2011
With all the rain we have been having here in Santa Cruz, I was sure that the San Lorenzo was going to be too high and muddy to fish. So instead of pulling on my waders, I put on my hiking boots and went for a hike along the river path with my wife. At this part of Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, the path follows along some train tracks while the river slowly descends further and further into the canyon. As we walked along the tracks, we came upon a large banana slug suicidally trying to cross the tracks. Since we could hear the train whistle in the distance, we moved him to the path after taking his picture. With any luck, the flows will come down in the next few days and I might get to come back this way in search of San Lorenzo Steelhead. --Posted by Eben Add Comment |
