Trouts & Stouts

From time to time we like to bring you short reviews or links to things we find on the web and in this way we can fill the  brief time between our more rambling thought out posts.

This week, David and I both became enamored with this fantastic fishing bag from Goertzen Adventure Equipment.

The combination of creel style straps and a leather and canvas fishing bag is simultaneously traditional looking and completely unique. It comes with two aluminum fly boxes so that you don't have to ruin the look of your bag with your current plastic/foam fly boxes. The bag looks big enough for lunch, and a raincoat, or extra spools or even a (properly waterproofed) DSLR camera. The price tag ($350), is a bit more than I can justify right now, but when you consider the fact that it is hand made in the USA, and that it comes with a personalized, hand stamped name plate and two fly boxes, it is really not unreasonably priced.

For $50 they also offer some real nice (almost steampunk) lanyards, one with a smace for a small fly box and the other with a flip down fly wallet. I really like the brass eyelets for the lanyard and removable belly strap.
Goertzen seems to make a wide range of other bags for hunting, mountaineering and even parenting (diaper bag). All-in-all, looks like a great company. --Posted by Eben
